Here’s an easy way to help improve your balance – do this at least once a day, perhaps even a couple of times in your day.
Try to balance on one foot as you brush your teeth. This seems like an easy task but let’s break it down.
- First you should try balancing on one foot to see how you do, shoes or no shoes your option.
- If that goes well, do this while brushing your teeth. It doesn’t matter if you use an electric or regular toothbrush.
Did you need to put a foot down?
Do you wobble?
There is a lot going here. Not only are you standing on one foot, but as you brush your teeth your body is moving around.
So if you’re having trouble with your foot off the ground then maybe try lifting the heel so you still have your toes on the ground. With this variation you start gaining more balance and perhaps eventually the entire foot will come off the ground.
Another bonus here is that you have the counter in front of you for added assistance and safety.
Remember the more often you practice, the better your balance will be.
